We are a central hub that provides assistance, support, networking, information, and resources to black-owned restaurants. The BRC is dedicated to lobbying for legislation with elected officials to improve the conditions for small-business restaurant owners and their staff.

“BLACK RESTAURANTS ARE MORE THAN JUST PLACES TO EAT, THEY ARE A CELEBRATION OF OUR CULTURE AND A TESTAMENT TO OUR RESILIENCE.”

OUR HISTORY

The Black Restaurant Coalition comprises predominantly Black-Owners of Bars & Restaurants operating throughout New York City and Long Island. These business owners allied to provide insight and material support and devise solutions for each other to overcome the increasing challenges they face in a post Covid-19 lagging economy.

Thousands of once-promising, thriving restaurants have closed down permanently due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Many that survived are now facing record inflation, high cost of rent, utilities, and an unsettled marketplace. A coherent and cohesive media marketing campaign will be needed to bring awareness and motivate the dining public about the tremendous Black-owned Bars and Restaurants still open in NYC. The BRC will also lobby for legislation with our elected officials for favorable conditions for our owners to keep their doors open and their employees hired. The coalition is also seeking partnerships and relationships with organizations committed to providing access to capital for our small business owners, racial equity, and a pathway to a more inclusive economy.

Our constituents own some of the best Black-owned establishments in NYC, showcasing the dynamic range of taste and elegance that contributes to the flair that makes NYC the mecca for food worldwide. The Black Restaurant Coalition is committed to developing and showcasing our Excellence.
